This 25-track odyssey serves as the Wave God’s first full-length offering since being released from prison last month. Max B (born Charley Wingate) walked free on November 9, 2025, after serving over 15 years of what was originally a 75-year sentence stemming from a 2006 robbery-turned-homicide case. After a successful sentence reduction and a plea to aggravated manslaughter, the Harlem legend is finally home and wasting no time reclaiming his throne.
A Star-Studded Homecoming
The new LP proves that Max’s influence hasn’t waned during his time away. Public Domain 7 is packed with heavy-hitting collaborations, featuring a “who’s who” of New York royalty and modern stars:
- French Montana & Chinx: The Coke Boys reunion fans have waited over a decade for.
- A$AP Rocky: Bringing the Harlem connection full circle.
- A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie & Lola Brooke: Bridging the gap between the Wave’s origin and the new generation of NY drill and melodic rap.
- Kehlani: Adding a R&B flare to the “Folded Remix.”
The Wave Continues
Fans won’t have to wait long for more music. Max B has already announced a deluxe version of the album slated for release today, Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025.
This album is his first solo effort since 2021’s Negro Spirituals, which was recorded and released while he was still behind bars. Now a free man, Max is looking toward a massive 2026. Earlier this month, he and longtime partner-in-rhyme French Montana released the single “Make America Wavy Again.” The duo is currently finalizing their highly anticipated collaborative mixtape, Coke Wave 3.5: Narcos, scheduled to hit streaming services on January 9, 2026.
With a massive 25-track list, Public Domain 7: The Purge is a deep dive into the Wave God’s evolution. If you’re short on time and want to hear the heavy hitters first, here is our “Top 5 Must-Listen” guide:
1. “N***a Like Me” ft. French Montana & Chinx
This is the soul of the album. It reunites the original Coke Boys trio, featuring a posthumous verse from the late Chinx. It feels like a time capsule from the early 2000s Harlem movement, blending that gritty New York street aesthetic with the melodic “waviness” Max B pioneered.
2. “Chase a Check” ft. A$AP Rocky
A true Harlem torch-passing moment. Rocky’s sleek, fashion-forward flow acts as the perfect counterpoint to Max’s raw, unfiltered delivery. This track is already being touted as the project’s standout “radio-ready” hit, bridging the gap between Max’s street legend status and Rocky’s global superstardom.
3. “Folded (Remix)” ft. Kehlani
Max B isn’t just about street anthems; he’s the king of “Porno Muzik” and melodic hooks. Tapping Kehlani for the remix of “Folded” was a genius move. Her smooth R&B vocals provide a velvety backdrop for Max to show off the charisma that made him a fan favorite before his incarceration.
4. “Turn Up for Me” ft. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie
If you want to hear the influence Max B had on the “Melodic Drill” era of New York, look no further. A Boogie has long cited Max as an inspiration, and their chemistry on this track is seamless. It’s a high-energy anthem designed for the clubs and the cars.
5. “Fiyah” ft. Lola Brooke
The “Silver Surfer” meets the “Big Gator.” Lola Brooke brings her signature aggressive energy to “Fiyah,” creating a high octane Brooklyn to Harlem connection. It’s short, punchy, and reminds everyone that Max B can still keep up with the fastest and fiercest in the game today.
