The countdown to A$AP Rocky’s long awaited fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb, has hit its final stride, but not without some digital turbulence. Just days before the Friday, January 16 release, the Harlem icon abruptly canceled a scheduled Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) after a frustrating run in with the platform’s moderation.
Table Of Content
Rocky, who intended to connect with fans to promote the new project, didn’t mince words when things went south. In an all caps message posted to the r/asaprocky subreddit on Monday, he wrote:
“WAS GON DO AMA, FUK IT NOW! YALL MODS ARE CLOWNS.”
“We F*cked Up”: The Moderators Respond
The fallout was immediate. The subreddit’s moderators issued a public apology titled “We F*cked Up,” explaining that the rapper’s posts were inadvertently flagged by Reddit’s automated spam filters, despite his account being approved.
“I’m sorry Mr. Rocky. We sent you a mod invite so this doesn’t happen again,” the post read. “Everyone feel free to roast us in the comments, we goofed up, nobody is gonna get banned.”
New Music: “Helicopter$” and “Punk Rocky”
Despite the Reddit drama, Rocky’s roll out has been visually and sonically ambitious. On Monday, he dropped his latest single “Helicopter$” along with a music video featuring his signature psychedelic visuals. While early leaks of the track included a verse from Playboi Carti, the official version released this week notably sees Rocky flying solo, a move that has sparked heavy debate across social media.
This follows the release of “Punk Rocky,” an indie-rock-leaning track whose video starred Hollywood legend Winona Ryder. The visual served as a “who’s who” of creative heavyweights, featuring:
- Danny Elfman (on drums)
- Thundercat
- A$AP Nast
Rocky also confirmed that the album’s cover art was designed by legendary filmmaker Tim Burton, further cementing the project’s “dark-surrealist” aesthetic.
What to Expect from “Don’t Be Dumb”
To support the launch, Rocky partnered with the financial rewards company Bilt for an exclusive 2LP vinyl release. According to Bilt’s press release, the 15-track album is a genre-bending tour of Rocky’s musical range, weaving through Jazz, Hip-Hop, Metal, Indie, and R&B.
Fans can also expect Rocky to take the global stage almost immediately; he is slated to be the musical guest for the first Saturday Night Live episode of 2026 on January 17, hosted by Finn Wolfhard.
Family Milestones
Outside of music, the A$AP family continues to grow. Rocky and Rihanna recently celebrated the birth of their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish, born in September 2025. While Rihanna has been spotted supporting Rocky’s recent creative endeavors, she has yet to set a date for her own return to music, leaving fans hopeful for a potential “Don’t Be Dumb” feature.
Don’t Be Dumb arrives on all streaming platforms this Friday, January 16.
